Carle Health, headquartered in Urbana, Illinois, is an integrated health care system comprised of hospitals, physician practices, and health insurance companies with The Carle Foundation as a common supporting organization and its not-for-profit parent company.

As of April 1, 2023, Carle Health operates eight hospitals (with 1,505 licensed beds) and its flagship hospital, The Carle Foundation Hospital, is a 489-bed tertiary care hospital with a Level I Trauma Center and Level III NICU; the Carle Illinois College of Medicine in partnership with the University of Illinois; two multi-specialty physician group practices which employ approximately 900 practicing physicians and over 500 advance practice providers and serve more than 350,000 unique patients annually in 17 communities across central Illinois; one of the nation’s largest rural health plans with about 240,000 members (in Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, North Carolina, Ohio, and Washington); and an array of related health care service providers. 

The hospitals admitted more than 35,000 patients and treated more than 143,000 patients in its emergency departments during 2022. The Mills Breast Cancer Institute, Carle Cancer Center, Carle Neuroscience Institute and Carle Heart and Vascular Institute bring additional advanced diagnostic and treatment options, along with outpatient, home health, and hospice services.
